Welcome to Ghent, a beautiful city of art that was declared the third most authentic historical destination worldwide by National Geographic Traveler Magazine in 2008!

Ghent is a city that has a lot to offer. The famous university provides a vibrant nightlife, affordable bars, restaurants and trendy boutiques. You will also find the cultural diversity of other cities thanks to the presence of different cultures and international restaurants. Belgium also plays an important role in the field of modern art, music, theatre, and Ghent also embraces this innovative culture. But at the same time, the city also retains its traditional roots: from old buildings to cosy markets, museums and parks.

You will discover that Ghent is so much more than just a tourist destination. It is a lively city where traditional Flemish culture and the Belgian modern lifestyle are brought together.

Ghent is a small, historic city that you can easily discover on foot. The two districts, the historic centre and the museum quarter, merge seamlessly into one another.

Tip: buy a CityCard Ghent!

The CityCard Gent is the inexpensive all-in ticket to all of Ghent's important monuments, museums and top attractions. It entitles you to a boat trip and the card is also valid on the bus or tram. The user guide that accompanies the CityCard Gent tells you where to go and how to get there. To make use of this all-in package you only pay €42 or €48! It allows you to get into the city for 48 or 72 hours respectively. Most of Ghent's museums are free for children under the age of 12, so they do not need a CityCard.

The CityCard can be purchased at the reception of Hotel de Flandre.
